Trophic Level
There are a total of five trophic levels and they indicate an organism's position in the transfer of energy. Level one are the primary producers, level two are the primary consumers, level three are the secondary consumers, level four are the tertiary consumers and level five are the quaternary consumers. The trophic levels show energy transfer. The primary producers start off with 100% of the energy, but 90% of it is lost each time an organism feeds on one another.
